Even without a sword in hand, Zoro possesses remarkable strength and physical prowess. He can execute sword techniques even without an actual sword, and these strikes are known to be incredibly powerful, forceful, and razor-sharp.

With this strength, he becomes a formidable opponent for anyone. However, what shocks people the most is the long scar over Zoro's left eye. Why did he sustain such a severe injury? Could there be something hidden beneath those eyes? Countless questions have been raised without answers. Below are some collected opinions:

Zoro was injured during training with Mihawk

Many speculate that Zoro lost his left eye during training with Mihawk, known as the world's strongest swordsman. Since Zoro was no match for him, it's possible that in the intensity of training, Mihawk accidentally inflicted the injury.

However, I'm not leaning towards this theory. As we know, for a swordsman, their eyes are vital, and losing them would be a sign of failure. Surely someone like Mihawk would understand the importance of eyes and wouldn't naturally target Zoro's eyes even during rigorous training. So, I believe there must be some other deeper reason.

When Zoro opens his eyes, he can use the Conqueror's Haki

I believe Zoro may have unlocked the King's Haki during his training with Mihawk. You might wonder why I say this, so let me provide two examples.

First, when Zoro fought against Kaku, he emitted an immensely formidable aura. Next, when Zoro fought against Monet, she was paralyzed after looking into his eyes. This could be the power of the King's Haki, an incredibly terrifying ability that can control an enemy's mind.

So why does he close his eyes to conceal this power? I think it's possible that he has only unlocked it but hasn't fully mastered his King's Haki. Alternatively, Zoro might not feel the need to use it yet. He might truly open his eyes when facing a formidable opponent and fighting at 100% strength.

Zoro possesses the eyes of the Demon

If you remember, during the appearance at the Sword Island in Loungetown, the Sandai Kitetsu sword was described as a cursed sword that brings misfortune to its users.

However, we have never seen this sword turn against its owner; on the contrary, it accepted Zoro as its master. Since acquiring this sword, attentive readers have noticed that Zoro started emanating a more sinister, ruthless aura. It's as if the curse of the Sandai Kitetsu is bloodlust, which awakens the demon Asura residing within Zoro.

This may be the reason why Zoro's eyes turned red and completely paralyzed his opponent during the fight with Monet. These demon eyes might have created illusions and killed the enemy within those eyes. Monet went mad, thinking she was cut in half, and her delusion might have become reality if not for Tashigi intervening by knocking Monet unconscious.

By reading this, which theory do you lean towards more? Regardless of the true power of these eyes, they undoubtedly harbor a terrifying secret. Let's wait for the day when the holy Oda reveals this mystery.
